Wheaton Aston and Brewood

A bright sunny day greeted us when we opened the curtains, last night there was talk of us walking down the towpath to the Norbury Boat Festival, this morning we decided against it, instead, we had a stroll around the well-kept village of Gnosall. Sue tried a couple of hairdressers in the hope they might have an appointment available.....no chance.... I'll have to get my clippers out.. The local newsagent/store was very busy with locals, we bought a paper and milk.

We left Gnosall through a short tunnel, enjoying a slow cruise down to Wheaton Aston, quite a few working boats are making there way up to the festival it's always nice to see them on the move the thump-thump of their vintage engines are heard long before the boat comes into view. We moored before bridge 19, a bit boggy on the towpath here so Sue walked beyond the bridge to see if any better moorings were available, there were better moorings but all were taken.

I removed the beer hunter and all the other clutter from the roof ready to give it a good wash when a lady asked if there was a blond lady on the boat. Sue popped her head out to be told that the boat behind the ladies was just getting ready to move. What a lovely kind thoughtful lady, I put all the bits back on the roof, under the bridge we went to find the boat that had left was moored opposite the winding hole, a no no for this crew...... that B@##'$y  kind thoughtful woman.

We pulled in just beyond the winding hole on the C&RT vessels only mooring while I quickly washed the roof and side. Then on through the lock for another short cruise to Brewood where we have moored for the night

The leaves almost hide the tunnels entrance
