Sandford

Not much to blog about today,we left our mooring at Days Lock at 1030hrs in warm sunshine with fluffy clouds. The  dominant Didcot Power Station appears to pop up on either side of the Thames as we meander up it.

First lock of the day was Clifton Hampden which has a quality bridge just before it

We used  the facilities at the lock to dump our load and fill the water tank. The Thames from here to Culham Lock is quite boring from the helmsman's point of view, there is some open country side but mainly enclosed woodland to the river bank criss crossed with electricity pylons. We went straight through Abingdon as we did not want to moor in a town which was just as well as it was jammed full of boats. We went on to Sandford  and through the lock of the same name which is the deepest lock on the upper Thames at nearly nine foot.
